Following up on a system introduced in 2014 and reviewed in 2019, the briefing outlines the history of the Children and Families Act whilst also commenting on how it was affected by Covid-19. The briefing was brought about as a green paper on the Act is due to be published in June 2021. Some important points from the briefing include the limit of 0.5% of School funding being usable for “High Needs” funding, and the temporary removal of specific requirements from the act during Covid-19 to reduce how much councils would need to spend toward it.
