Working Tax Credit / Childrens Tax Credit

This course is designed to acquaint participants with the rules governing the calculation and recovery of overpayments of Tax Credits and to enable them to assist claimants to negotiate manageable outcomes.
This course will enable participants to:
- Understand the basics of Tax Credits calculations
- Identify how overpayments of Tax Credits occur
- Check whether overpayments have been calculated correctly
- Identify how overpayments can be recovered
- Identify grounds and methods for challenging decisions about overpayments
- Identify how other means-tested benefits are affected by changes in the amount of Tax Credits payable.
