COURSE SUMMARY
Understanding Fuel Poverty and Energy Awareness is a one day training course which provides individuals
with an understanding of the causes and effects of fuel poverty and what national and local government
is doing to help solve the problem. It also provides attendees with information about basic home energy
efficiency and what grants and services are available for householders. This course is suitable for anyone
who wishes to extend their general knowledge about fuel poverty and for front line staff in the voluntary
and statutory sectors who through the course of their work have contact with the general public.

• Solutions to fuel poverty?
• Home energy efficiency & condensation
• Energy & welfare services available to householders
• Grants for home improvements
BY THE END OF THE SESSION ATTENDEES WILL BE ABLE TO
• Understand the causes of fuel poverty & links between poor housing and health
• List the solutions to fuel poverty
• Be aware of all local and national grants for energy efficiency improvements
• Be able to provide basic energy advice and be able to signpost to key organisations
